A Guide to Biodiesel

Where to Find a Biodiesel Recipe

Once you’ve decided to jump into the world of biodiesel fuel you’ll have a few decisions to make. If you live in an area where biodiesel fuel is already being used you may actually be able to purchase it already made. If that’s not the case, you’ll need to consider making your own biodiesel fuel.

After purchasing a biodiesel processor the next step is finding a biodiesel recipe. If you’re processor comes with instructions there may be a biodiesel recipe included. If this isn’t the case you can find a recipe in several places.

One of the best resources for finding a biodiesel recipe is the Internet. There are many recipes that explain how to create biodiesel fuel in your own processor. The recipes vary depending on the materials you are working with.

If you are using used cooking oil to produce biodiesel fuel than you’ll need to find a biodiesel recipe that has that as its main ingredient; the same is true if you are using new oil. Once you have the recipe purchase the rest of the ingredients and begin the process.

The different recipes that are available may vary a bit. This can result in different viscosities of biodiesel fuel. Some recipes create a much thicker fuel while others create a thinner fuel. Many people prefer the thinner fuel as they feel it runs more smoothly through the engine.

Measuring is extremely important when you are making biodiesel fuel. Read the biodiesel recipe thoroughly and then double check the amounts that you are using. Since you are in essence creating a chemical reaction you need to ensure that you are doing exactly as the recipe notes.

By finding a biodiesel recipe that works and following the directions you’ll be able to create an alternative fuel source that is much less expensive than the fossil fuels most people are now using.
